UNESCO: Protect Heritage Sites, Not Coal!
Many UNESCO civilisation heritage sites are threatened by coal development in Turkey — the Hecate temple in Lagina (Yatağan), the ancient port city of Kyme, the Byzantine fortress of Pegae, and the Ilgın – Çavuşçugöl natural reserve are some of them. But many more could be threatened if Turkey pursues it’s plan to build even more coal plants. UNESCO can speak out to stop this. Join the global call to get them on the right side of this fight.
