The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) Climate Change and Heritage Working Group

The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) Climate Change and Heritage Working Group is an international non-governmental organization that works for the conservation and protection of cultural heritage around the world. It operates through 110 national committees, 28 international scientific committees, and six international working groups. The Climate Change and Heritage Working Group (CCHWG) is made up of approximately 30 ICOMOS members from around the world, across heritage specializations and professional roles. Current major tasks include guidance for aligning the global heritage community with the goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement and updating policy and guidance for management of World Heritage Sites under climate change. The CCHWG is currently completing its Outline of Climate Change and Cultural Heritage (see attached draft) which will be released at the 43rd annual meeting of the World Heritage Committee in June-July 2019.
