What are your thoughts on E.O. Wilson’s ideas of Biophilia?

Kathleen Dean Moore, philosopher and nature writer

Reflecting on biologist E.O. Wilson’s concept of “biophilia,” philosopher and nature writer Kathleen Dean Moore discusses signs of an imminent paradigm shift in human beings’ view of their relation to the rest of the natural world. From a worldview of anthropocentrism and human hubris that regards the homo sapiens as being at odds with (even in domination of) the natural world, humans in Moore’s view are now acknowledging to a much greater extent their inseparability from nature, an understanding that opens up the possibility for humans to conceive of their relation to the environment in terms of care and love. This shift in perception is essentially revolutionary in nature.
